Product Custom Specialist

The Product Custom Specialist will be responsible for designing,
contracting, pricing and executing customized itineraries while
capturing what the group leader is looking for in the tour and
exceeding expectations. Responsible for the custom tour from the
initial bid request through the completion of the tour (or until
the last guest is home); this includes talking to in-house and
external customers to make sure all aspects of the custom
experience are being meet.
•Territory Coverage: For all custom tours, the Product Custom
Specialist is the first point of contact for the company, vendors
and clients for the assigned territory to answer questions, solve
problems and assist co-workers, vendors and clients.
•Conduct extensive research on potential custom vendors, including
hotels, restaurants, gift shops, and step-on guides for all
included and optional excursions.
•Complete full process for custom tours, including itineraries,
optional tour creation, bid proposals, contract negotiations,
space, sales interaction, accepted turnover, group leader
time-logs, tour manager interaction, documents and review the
program with the group leader. Create pricing based on itinerary
for various price points based on passenger loads to meet the
commission and sales goals of the clients.
•Negotiate and sign all contracts with all required vendors for the
upcoming pricing season. Negotiate contracts with new and existing
vendors as needed where we do not currently have valid
•Work with the Contract Manager and/or Product Manager to negotiate
contracts when escalated assistance is required with new and
existing custom vendors as needed where we do not currently have
•Work with other departments – including Air, Inside & Outside
Sales, Inventory, Tour Manager etc. - to address questions and
concerns prior to departure and while tour is on the road.
•Responsible for approving, negotiating and message creation on all
custom tour changes and advising other company personnel through
tour change form processed by the Product Coordinator.
•Conduct a post tour review of custom program upon completion of
the tour. This will be done through survey review, phone calls,
contacting sales representatives; tour manager's and group leaders
Qualifications and Experience:
•Adept negotiator with proven track record of hitting margin
•Extreme customer focus; passion for the senior and boomer
•Travel: Travel at least 30 days per year on the road working with
sales reps and Product Managers to keep in touch with the market.
Attend Corporate Events as requested – Tour Manager Meeting, Sales
Meeting. Participate in Employee on Tour program as requested.
•Weekend Coverage: Manage the Product department emergency on-call
phone 4-5 weekends a year, including working in the office during
those weekends during busy season. In house coverage of 1 or more
holiday(s) per year.
•Comply with all rules and regulations and perform any other
duties/projects as assigned.
•This position reports to the Contract Manager
