role:BlueWave has an immediate opening for a GIS Systems Architect
on the Site Acquisition team. This team member will support a wide
range of energy project needs including map production, spatial and
tabular analysis, and other support for site acquisition,
interconnection, development and construction of our rapidly
expanding portfolio of solar and standalone storage projects. Your
daily activities will include but not be limited to designing
digital maps, developing project databases, designing field and web
apps for user interfacing, and developing workflows for the
collection and use of geospatial information across a project
lifespan. You will be expected to run geoprocessing and analysis
tasks with increasing complexity, ultimately leading to automated
modelling. After processing the data, you will use it to tell
compelling stories about your results such as through visually
appealing and comprehensible maps. Strong written and verbal
communication skills are essential for this position. Experience
with ArcGIS & QGIS as well as being comfortable with working in a
fast-paced and dynamic environment, supporting multiple projects in
a team-setting are also essential attributes for being successful
in this role. You will be getting exposure to the inner workings of
the renewables industry and the project development process. This
role is right for someone passionate and forward-thinking about
what GIS can offer.What you'll do:
- Designing, developing and implementing systems and databases
for the collection of geospatial data
- Identifying and integrating new datasets that can increase
efficiency and add to the depth of understanding about a
project
- Standardizing and maintaining documentation for the
organization's geospatial data library
- Preparing geospatial data to interact with other organizational
platforms such as Salesforce, Procore and PowerBI.
- Performing quality assurance and reviewing geospatial data to
ensure accuracy and completeness
- Gathering, compiling, migrating and converting data sets for
project needs from a variety of internal and external sources
- Designing field and web apps for user interfacing
- Developing and automating workflows for the collection and use
of geospatial information across a project lifespan
- Performing regional market and competitive analysis as
requested
- Maintaining relationships with external organizations i.e. data
vendors
- Maintaining project documentation, regulatory requirement
milestones and monitoring project progress against those
requirements
- Collaborating/Coordinating with teams at BlueWave to deliver
products that support those teams' goals and objectives
- Staying up to date with new technology and developments in GIS
and how they can be implemented to support functions at
BlueWave
- Preparing internal and external documents and
presentationsQualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or
equivalent
- At least 2 years' experience using ESRI software including
ArcGIS Pro
- Willingness to learn and grow technically
- Superb problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate and translate technical concepts to a
range of audiences
- Familiarity with scripting and data management languages, i.e.
Python, SQL
- Experience with open-source GIS software like QGIS a plus
- Familiarity with solar PV siting requirements a plus
- Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication
skills
- Effective time management and ability to balance concurrent
tasks
- Must be able to work from Boston office (Hybrid, 2-3 days per
week)The anticipated salary range for this role is $80,000 -
$84,000 per year + bonus.Compensation will be influenced by a wide
array of factors including but not limited to internal pay equity,
job-related knowledge, skills, education, certifications, and
relevant experience as outlined in the job description above.At
