Catholic Medical Center invites applications for the position of RN Student Nurse Extern PRN on our Medical Surgical Unit. This role provides an exceptional opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on experience in a supportive, patient-focused environment. As an extern, you will work alongside experienced nurses and healthcare professionals, assisting with the delivery of high-quality care and gaining practical skills essential for your future career in nursing. This position is offered on a per-diem basis, giving you flexibility to balance your studies and clinical experience. Assist registered nurses and other healthcare staff in delivering patient care in the Medical Surgical Unit. Monitor and record patients' health conditions as directed. Assist in performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results. Help in the administration of medications and treatments. Educate and support patients and their families by explaining post-treatment home care needs. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards. Participate in educational sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge. Strong clinical skills appropriate to a student nurse level Ability to follow detailed instructions Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Basic knowledge of healthcare software and systems Capability to handle emotional and physical stress Effective time management skills Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required Proof of active enrollment in a Nursing school
