Position Summary: The Cost Accounting Manager will report directly to the Corporate Controller and will have frequent interaction with employees at all levels throughout the organization. The primary responsibility of the Cost Accounting Manager will be to work collaboratively to develop and implement a method for calculating standard costs that will be used consistently across all business units. In addition, this position will handle building an overall process to update standard costs at various intervals, and clearly defining roles and responsibilities for all individuals involved in this process. This position will require strong communication and time-management skills, as well as the ability to meet tight deadlines. In addition, the candidate must have the flexibility to juggle competing priorities. Duties/Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with the Corporate Controller and Leadership Team to develop and implement a method for calculating standard cost that will be used consistently across all lines of business. Responsible for building an overall process to update standard costs at various intervals, and clearly defining roles and responsibilities for all individuals involved in the process. Work directly with all business units involved in the developing process and travel to business units estimated to be about 15% - 25% of the time until the processes are implemented and then travel will be on an as needed basis. Gain an understanding of the manufacturing processes at each location to properly build the standard cost structure. Where necessary, perform time studies to properly burden each stage of production. Collect, analyze, and understand the significant operational cost drivers for each process. Stay abreast of the market forces that affect our costs, including transportation issues, energy prices, etc. Manage requests for creating new sku's across all business units. Ensure that MAPICS - generated margin reports accurately reflect the true cost standards. Meet periodically with senior management to supply status updates. Required Skills/Abilities: Strong mathematical, analytical, and technical accounting skills; accuracy and attention to details In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Must have advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with MAPICS and/or Infor, or other integrated accounting systems, a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English Strong interpersonal and team-building skills Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA preferred but not required.
